Rec Room
Social VR/flat-screen rooms and games on rec.net.
Integration features
Members will click “Play Room” on your portalry to launch Rec Room. Use this checklist to give them a smooth landing every time.
Portalry deep-links to your Rec Room room page and surfaces the room name, image, and description from rec.net metadata.
What Portalry handles for you
- Displays a "Play Room" button that links to your rec.net room URL.
- Imports the room title, description, and image from Rec Room Open Graph tags when first added.
- Keeps the join link stable so you can reuse the same room for recurring events.
Setup checklist
- Create or choose the Rec Room room you want people to enter and copy its rec.net URL (e.g., https://rec.net/room/Paintball).
- If you use private instances or event codes, include any access instructions in the Portalry description.
- Test the link in an incognito window to confirm the metadata looks correct and the room opens as expected.
What still lives in the platform
- Portalry does not manage room permissions, instance privacy, or moderation—configure those inside Rec Room.
- Attendance and matchmaking stay within Rec Room; Portalry tracks RSVPs only.
Extras & best practices
- Reuse a consistent room for a series to simplify reminders and access.
- Pin house rules and voice etiquette in the Portalry description for newcomers.
